Hey guys, i am going to do some work to my 04 6.0 and want to see if you feel i should replace anything else while i'm in it this far.

So far i plan on,

Deleting egr cooler
Rebuilding turbo
Replacing # 3 injector
Blue spring Upgrade
New updated turbo feed and drain lines

Other things i thought of replacing while i am in there but not sure if i want to spend the money on them with out reason are,

STC fitting upgrade
Standpipe and dummy plug upgrade
New oil cooler
Coolant filter system

I recently bought this truck with about 200k on it and dont know any history on it other than it has a swamps 58v ficm which seems ok. The truck runs ok, but does blow blue smoke and have a little rough idle, which throws a cylinder contribution fault on #3.

If you have any other suggestions i should consider please feel free to throw them out there.

Thanks

You don't have an STC fitting on a 2004. I'd put Restore and Restore+, with new ELC coolant on there if you decide to replace the oil cooler. Clean it out good and it'll last longer.

If it were me with 200k and I was going in that deep. I would pull all the injectors on that side and rering them all. Cost about $20 more dollars and about a half hour to pull 3 more, clean up injector cups and replace. And if you do the stand pipes and dummy plugs I would rering all the injectors, but thats just me.

Thanks for the advice on the injectors, i never really thought about just reringing them.

I should have researched the stc fitting alittle more too realized that my 04 doesnt have it. I seen alot of upgrade kits for 04-07 and assumed my late 04 would have it, but your correct i dont.

As for the restore and elc coolant i am definatly planning on doing it. i also looked into the diy coolant filter and found i have most of the stuff i need already from some other projects so i will build my own. thanks again for all the help.

Where is your ICP sensor (ie do you have an early or late 2004)?

You can replace the orginal oil drain tube, but there's no real reason you have to. If you buy the turbo kit...it comes with all the o-rings you'll need, including to re-ring your drain tube.

I agree with you about clay at riff raff, i priced out everything i can get from him.

As for the injectors, i am not sure if they are orginal or not, i am working on trying to get a oasis report on the pickup but some of the local dealerships are being very difficult. But i think i will put new orings and washers and inspect them for obvious damage.

I need to replace the turbo feed with a new updated one and figured the drain could be updated to the new one as well.

thanks
