Machining 6.0 heads

I'm about to have new gaskets put in my truck since the BO blew and am going to get the heads machined. What's the most that can be taken off these heads?

Many people say no more than 0.008. I am probably even more conservative at 0.005. Then there is also a lot of discussion that a better measurement would be to stay with a MINIMUM head thickness is 3.74 inches. Get them to a tolerance of 0.002 of better.

What's the recommended torque for the studs. I know it says 210 but is the old 245lb ok to use with the new lube?

use the new lube (don't be stingy) and torque to 210 per instructions (IMO anyway)

I have to 3rd that on the torquing instructions and I also want to reiterate the .005 on the machining the heads part of it as well.

Make sure you that are going to a competent shop as well as that can really make or break how successful you are in this.

Thanks guy. Yeah I'm taking the heads to a well know shop that does these heads often. I will for sure use the directions and go 210.
