Hi all,
I have a 1987 F250 with a 1988 7.3 non turbo and C6 transmission. So after changing the transmission oil pan gasket and filter I noticed I started leaking profusely from the area where the dip stick enters the pan. Not sure what is going on or why it started leaking thought I'd ask if anyone has ever had this problem and how to fix it.
Did you over fill it that is what happend to me i cleaned it up and it was fine, not saying it is the for sure problem.PS make sure you used a tourqe wrench on the tranny pan and you didnt just use a ratchet. I learnd this one the hard way bent the pan and it leaked like a sob.

Thanks for the heads up, I did ratchet unfortunately but it is definitely the o-ring that was missing. Do you happen to know off hand the torque spec?
The tourque spec was in the instructions with the gasket, dont take my word for it but I think it was 13ftlbs ??? It is a real small amount it is easy to overtighten it. I would just wait and see if it leaks if it dosent I wouldnt bother with it until next time you do a change the atf.Just make sure the pan isnt bent where the gasket goes at all next time you have it down. I bough a ex. deep pan from ebay it was chromed and had a magnetic drain plug. The magnetic gain plug pick up and holds on to any metal shavings in the fluid so they dont get ran through the gears. And of course the drain plug makes life alot easyer $20 cant beat it.
