Yup.....Newbie. I've been poke'n around and searching (in the wrong forum) and need some advice. Recently bought a 2001 F350 7.3 sc 4x4 dually 4.10 with 32k. It has an average mpg of 11.5. I have 14.1 psi map and 16.43 psi ebp. Will cleaning the ebp tube and sensor be enough or should I buy a new sensor before I begin? Thanks for any thoughts and advice in advance!
Is that with the key on and engine off?
You might be able to clean the sensor but you'll have to spend some time and be patient with it. I've had about 50/50 success rate with cleaning sensors that haven't been serviced before. I recently had a sensor that didn't really look that bad but it was reading about 4 psi high. I cleaned it and it got down to within 1/2 psi of normal baseline. Then I went to install it onto the bracket and it shot right back up again. So, the mechanical force to install the sensor must have tweaked it just enough so the diaphragm was distorted and threw the baseline reading off. I ended up just replacing the sensor in that instance.
I say give it a try with the cleaning and see if that works. If not, then you can order one online from one of the site sponsors and change it out when it comes in. They are easy enough to change, takes about 2 minutes...
Key on engine off. I'm going to try to clean it tomorrow. Is there anything that I should or should not be spraying in there? 11.5 mpg is low isn't it? I'll be changing the fuel filter and cps tomorrow as well.

Non-chlorinated brake cleaner is what I used on the tube. However I have had it melt some plastics, and I am not sure what the internals of the EBPS are made of. (If anyone has any bad EBPS sensors, feel free to contact me...)
I wouldnt spray anything into the EBPS only because I dont want to ruin it on a quick fix. A little time and you can clean it out manually.
Clean the EBPS and tube first. If that doesnt fix it, then consider replacing the sensor. But 20 mins and a free fix is better than $80 for a sensor if your old one was fine. Also, dont forget the hole in the manifold.
My mileage had dropped from about 18.5 down to 16.5mpg. I spent almost two hours trying to clean my EPBV tube. I finally gave up and ordered a new one and a new sensor. from what I read it was a iffy proposition cleaning the sensor. I got them from Riffraff. I did not have a Speedo cable which attached to a drill might have worked better and faster. After replacing my mileage went back up to as much as 20 mpg but averages about 18.5mpg. (2 WD)
I cut open the tube and it was only blocked about 30 to 40 %
70% regular easy driving on mileage tune, 30% heavy tow tune but never more than 50 mph. Ebps doesn't look bad......... still working on the tube/ manifold side. Cps was easy, now on to door lock.
At least my power door lock came out alright, not bad for $17.89 delivered with a lifetime warranty. Put my ebps back on but still need to fix the lower nut (never got the tube off). Cleaned the sensor and it still reads 2 psi more than map koeoff. I guess I'll be going with a new sensor and tube.
