I recently bought a 04 Super Duty low miles 16k however there is some ugly surface rust all over the frame and underside. No areas seem to be rusted thru. I have researched and read until my head hurts so I had a few questions.
1. Should I get up under there and scrap all loose stuff off the the frame wash and degrease it. What is the feeling on bed removal to do this?
2. I have though of then using a rust converter all over the frame and underside parts
3. Should I then prime over the entire frame? If so any product reccomendaitions? I have read good stuff on red oxide primer
4. Top coating?? It seems there is as many opinions on this as there are products.
remove the bed .power wash everything .Put 2 coats of chassis saver on it .tough stuff made to go over rust works great.you can surface the loose frame rust with a wire knot wheel on a 4" grinder before applying chassis saver.2 coats jet black no primer needed.check it out.1quart will really go far .i brush it on after reducing lightly with recommended reducer.
