Rusted frame
I have a 92 F150 that has a frame that is covered in rust. It is not the bubbly cancerous rust, but rust none the less. What I need to know is, is it safe to leave untreated and what would you recomend to treat it. The body of the truck is in great shape, but the frame, tire carrier, spring mounts, all of the "bare metal" items under the truck are completly covered in rust. I wish I could get a picture for better explanation, but i am unable to do this. I should know this, but is the frame a I beam shape all the way? I know it is not boxed, but I have not had a really good chance to look at it. Thanks for any help

The best thing to do is to take the bed off and sandblast the frame and paint it with por 15. 2nd best would be to use a grinder, wire brush on cut off wheel, or some other way of removing most of the rust. Clean it really well and then spray down a rust prohibitor and paint.

I have some light rust covering my frame too. There's a product called rust-mort worked great on my friends chevelle. Been wanting to use it on my truck when I get the time. Then agian you could always use coke and potatos with bakeng soda

Definatly pull the bed off. It makes the job soo much better and easier. Painted the frame my uncles '78 Chevy farm truck when we put a better bed on it. Looked new when we were done. You should take a look at rust converter. It changes the rust to primer, and coverts any new rust that forms too.
