Aside from al of the clutch mechanism equipment (is there a hydraulic clutch setup for a T19?), you will need to puta 400 ohm resistor into the MLPS connector to "tell" the ECM that the E4OD (that isn't there anymore) is in "Drive". Beyond that, there should be no issues making the swap save fabrication and driveshaft length changes.

I understand wanting to use a transmission you already have but the M5OD and the ZF S5-42 were both OEM manual transmissions that will bolt in readily and the clutch mechanisms and hydraulics will bolt in as well with no fabrication required save to have drive shafts modified for length. But then replacement driveshafts of the proper length are available aftermarket for these applications as the M5 was available stock in the Bronco and the S5-42 ZF is indentical in length.

You will need a bellhousing for a 4.9 (300)/5.0 (302)/5.8 (351w). The diesel bell housing is a different bolt pattern, size, etc.

Honestly, you don't even have to find the resistor, just keep the MLPS from the side of the E4OD and leave it in the position that it sits when the E4OD is in DRIVE. This will "tell" the ECM that the truck is always in DRIVE allowing full performance and proper fuel metering. The other option I spoke of requires removing the MLPS and jumping the VREF signal terminal and the SIG/RTN terminal with a resistor that you can get at any Radio Shack.

There is a $500 ZF5 S42 on here in the for sale listings.

I did t he M5OD to ZF5 swap and it was easy. I like the ZF5 better.

$500 isn't too bad for a ZF especially if its the wide-ratio unit. Make certain it is a 4WD version or the tailhousing won't work.

Wide-ratio ZF's have a 5.72:1 1st gear and 5.24:1 reverse. The close ratio units are 4.14:1 1st and a 3.79:1 reverse. Both have a 5th gear overdrive WR - 0.76:1, CR - 0.77:1.
