I was wondering about a transmission swap in a 2 wd 1978 F-150 w/300 ci. The truck has a clark overdrive, and I am looking to put a t-18, t-19, or a np 435 in it. Is the bell housing interchangable? What about driveshaft length? Clutch linkage? Has anyone done this before?
clutch linkage is based on engine and bellhousing, so you won't need to change it.
all 3 of the transmissions you mentioned will bolt to your bellhousing
2wd t-18's, t-19's, 435's all use a bolt on yoke so you will need a two piece driveshaft.
You'll need to cut the floorpan insert.
