After using various starters from parts stores, there really is no comparison with the ones from DB. Anyone with one can verify this. If I remember right they have free shipping too.
I'd like to see what the warranty is on those, though. Life warranty means you never have to buy a starter for your truck again, they told me I wouldn't even need a receipt to do an exchange because I was recorded in their system.

Im not sure on the warranty is from DB, but I know that there are several members here and on OB that have had them installed for years without issue. For me, its worth it to have a starter that is that much better, even if I have to replace it every few years.
Update: GREAT NEWS!! After installing the IP the starter is working fine. Still I thank everybody for telling me where they got their G.R. starters. I'm keeping this for further referance, in case.............
Nope, the IP didn't fix the starter. After trying to get the truck going I started smelling something electrical as in the starter smelling as it had in the past. Then again I like 86sixbanger's explaination
I just checked with Autozone and they have the "Duralast" with the life time warranty. Anybody ever hear of that one? It is a gear reduction starter. Cost is $139. plus core.

yes.part #16561
it's the original OEM Mitsubishi gear reduction starter.Reman, and like you say, warrantied for life.it's the replacement i recently went with.
Well the starter has been replaced. I wasn't sure because when I compared the two starters , the new starter was longer, 4" longer. I thought great I have my truck torn all apart and now the starters to long. I installed the new starter, it just did fit, and everything is working great. Lifetime warrenty is just that, no more buying starters. That I like.
The thing with the Autozone starter is that it could be a Nippondenso or a Mitsubishi. The piece of paper that is included in the box that nobody reads tells you that. You can physically bolt the 3 different starters in, the eyelet on the Delco direct drive is a shade smaller, so when upgrading from them you have to make the hole bigger, but otherwise they are a a direct bolt.
That looks like the starter I pulled out. Yep it does turn the idi faster than the original starter. I remember when I pulled out the original starter and replaced it with the one in the link, I couldn't believe how fast it turned over. The one I just replaced it with turns over the engine fast to, I can't say as fast or faster than the old one I just pulled but it starts right up which was the reason I replaced the starter with winter coming on. I wasn't sure if the glo plugs were going out or it was just the starter getting tired.
