Tow/haul switch in shifter

Does anyone know how to get the tow/haul switch out of the shifter? I got the shift lever off of the truck on the bench, but I can't figure out how to get it apart. I have the typical broken wire problem on my tow/haul switch.

IIRC, the switch and the shift lever are replaced as one unit.

Rats. I was hoping for a better (cheaper) solution. Thanks for the input.

Dont just quit... they had to git-r-in-there some how....

If you cant come up with anything, How about a simple dash switch with a wire reroute...
That may be your cheaper option. Good luck

That was my thought as well. It went together somehow, so it has to come back apart somehow. Didn't want to destroy it, but if I have to buy a new one anyway, what the heck? A pretty shift lever is no good if it doesn't work...

The wires are definitely broke somewhere, but it must me inside the shift lever tube. If I push in on the wires the switch will work, but if I pull out it doesn't work. Time for some surgery.

on my 08, the switch just slid into the handle.. I used a small screwdriver to grab it and pull it out once the handle was free of the truck.

I had a broken wire for tow/haul, discovered after I bought the truck.

How about a salvage yard replacement - not many wrecks damage the shift lever

use their locator service, get your new to u one and then play with the old one !
