Angry HPX leak

I tried searching for related problems, but didn't find much. Did anyone else have this happen. I was very careful on not to over tighten anything. but after 11/2 years my line started leaking very bad very fast, so i snugged up a bit. Didn't help so I took it off to look at, and it is cracked right above the flare.

I read a lot on here and I have not seen any posts about problems, so its probably not too common. I would call Clay and see what he can do for you. I would be surprised if he doesn't warranty it.

There is a guy up here that runs a diesel shop and he took his HPx off because it kept leaking. Mine has only been on for about 3 months so I am no help. I have heard of them leaking if you over tighten them or if you put some kind of thread sealant on them. I ordered mine from Clay and I would imagine he could give you a better idea on the number of these that fail with the most common reasons for doing so.

Not a problem, just need to go to work tommorow out of state again. I wounder if anyone knows what site the threads are on the nut so i can maybe just put a internal flare nut/cap on to plug off for now,so i dont have to remove the hpx plugs?

Having a cracked flare on a tube is not uncommon. Many times the angle or torque can cause the metal to prematurely fatigue and crack.

You should be able to take the line in with you and get caps for the fittings in the head. It is most likely a #6 size, but hard to say what you actually have. My KCM HPx is #5 which is fairly uncommon.

Eric, sorry to hear you are having an issue, we really haven't seen much of that. Should be a -6 thread, but would have to look at it tomorrow at the shop. Let me know if you have anything else I can help you with, and also send the line back in if you would like so we can look at it. I would like to see if we can swap you for another one.

This is why IMHO it is a worthless mod. Does nothing, but its a dandy way to change your oil rather quickly.

i agree with helping the truck idle and run a little smoother.....but they do leak from time to time....just replace the oring and go....although it sounds like this is leaking from a different spot than usual.....

I've removed 3 myself... Most were the rubber line one's however.

They always leak, there has never been any proven results that they improve anything.

There just one more thing to remove when pulling a turbo...
