we are halfway thru an engine swap, kinda tweaked my back out and i just started peeing blood-gonna have to hit the doctors tuesday and find out whats going on. need to find some guys that can come over to help with the swap, i can pay $100 each per day - i just gotta get this thing done. we have the old motor out, and swapped the turbo/injection pump/injectors/etc... onto the "new" motor ( it has 34,000 miles on it, came out of a wrecked airport truck ), just need to swing her in and get her running...any takers that can help a brother out ? the 2 "friends" that were SUPPOSED to help this weekend just didnt show up at all--that definately affects their rating with me, next time they need something like a free tow or a motor overhauled or something like that. i got new starter and new radiator to go in as well. man, i hope someone lives here and is willing to help out--i am losing $$$ everyday this truck is down. not to mention the vette 454 swap is at a standstill, the V8 vega isnt roadworthy yet, and our astrovan is down and not running too----what a week im having !
oh, man....6 and a half hours of fighting with the block, and it STILL isnt in--its back on the garage floor for the night, gotta try again tomorrow. really bad right now, kidneys are killing me , looks like im peeing straight blood but i goota get this done, new renters moving in at end of month and need 2 stalls back. lord please help me, im in a bad way. seems like the converter hits the flexplate before the motor mounts clear, and thats right after the banks turbo hits the firewall.....frickfrackfarkfork !!!!
Just thinking about when I had same problem. Had to raise front of transmision so engine would tilt forward, turbo would give just enough clearance to get motor mounts in. It defineatly isn't easy. also could not put engine in if Oil filter was installed. Had to remove filter, put engine in then re-install filter.
well it isnt "IN-in", but it is bolted to the trans with the converter poking through the flexplate holes ( and still got play in converter so it went in far enough to the front pump, i guess ). however its just kinda sitting on the mounts, didnt get them lined up right to bolt together. maybe nother day. it was BAD, ended up pulling passenger side motor mount and the oil filter to get it in and it took 3 of us 4 and a half hours.fark. hating life right now, but at least we are partway home....if i run outta time i may strip it and junk the roller. hope it dont come to that.
