OK guys here goes more than likely this has been asked a million times but i am a hot shot drive and dont have time to research so hopefully you guys will help i have a 97 ford f-350 7.3l engine is bad rings went out so i have found a late 99-00 7.3l with 60000 miles on it out of a camper is it possible to swap into my truck and what is needed for the swap and best stock hp gain tricks i am on a tight budget and can get the engine for like cheap cheap as always all help is apprieciated
Yes it will work. You will need to swap the accessory mounts, wiring harness, motor mounts, some sensors, turbo, driver side manifold(I think), injectors, and add e fuel. I'm not sure if custom tuning will support those split shot injectors on it.
Basically you'll strip it down to a long block and swap everything over from your old engine.
You will also have to do electric fuel since the 99-03 don't have the love on the can to drive the fuel pump
I may have missed it, but why not just swap over the injectors? Why retune for splits? Stay with the singles and if you want more tune with the singles.

He mentioned it here, asking if he would get more power from the splits. My vote goes to keeping the single's if money is an issue. Just get new O-rings and swap them over from the OBS engine to the SD one.
Depends on if he has the money for the PCM re-tune.
One thing I noticed that you mentioned though... you said he would have to swap out turbo's. I would respectfully beg to differ, since the turbo on his donor engine would be a Van turbo and better than the OBS turbo (let's face it, almost ANYTHING is better than the stock OBS turbo).
You could very well be right. I never thought about it being a van. And a stock superduty turbo is worse than a obs turbo.
How could it be worse? It's much bigger on the compressor side, and has a .85 A/R compared to the OBS 1.15.
I was assuming the Van turbo because the O.P. mentioned it would be coming from a motor-home.
Anyway, I plan on putting a SD turbo on my truck because I can't stand how late my turbo spools. I'll smoke out a whole city block if I get on it before I let the turbo spool up, and that takes waiting until I get up to 2200 RPM's. If I can get it to spool around 1800 RPM's like our work trucks do, I'll be happy.

wastegate. There is a reason nobody puts them on there obs. Unless you spend a bunch of money on it anyway
