Every thing is new except the flywheel but it was resurfaced. Ive looked a few things up online and people were saying that some clutches will chatter for a few hundred miles and im like "what?!" We got all the clutch parts from lmc and we arent sure weather the pressure plate is new or remanufactured though.
I've never heard of a chattering issue with a properly installed new clutch(and believe me, I am the formost expert on doing things wrong!).
Parts wear out together and work fine in a balance of sorts but, when you replace some of the components, it can bring other issues to light.
Did you have the transmission input shaft bearing checked? Every vehicle I ever had that chattered like that had either the pilot bushing, input shaft bushing or both going out.
Every peice of the drivetrain is brand new. Obviously the engine, the transmission was completely rebuilt, all new clutch stuff and the drive shaft was rebuilt. The only thing that has not been touched yet is the rear axel
I think the rear end IS part of the drive train! You might check for a sloppy pinion shaft then. Perhaps it's bad and it seems like clutch chatter. It could be bucking around on you and traveling through the drive shaft to make you think it's the clutch.Just trying to help. That wear pattern is important for smoooth-ness!!
I appreciat the suggestions guys. Ive heard several things that say some clutches do chatter for a little and i honestly dont know what to beleive. This is definately chatter though there is no doubt about it. It only does it when the clutch slips. I dont really have as much of a problem with it as my dad. I drove it 5 miles down town last week without it doing it at all because i dont slip the clutch like my dad. We were gonna see if it settled down buy about 500 miles and if it hasnt we will be replaceing stuff.
We are actually haveing a bigger problem right now because the battery is new, the alternator has been tested and was perfectly fine, and the voltage regulator is brand new yet when i hook up a voltmeter it says it has 12.6 volts off, idleing it has 12.4 and then when i tuned it back off it had 12.5. What do you guys think?
I am haveing another battery chargeing system problem with our 1968 ford fairlane 500. We have a brand new battery in it. We havent been driveing it as much as usual but i put a volt meter on it today and it had 11.9 volts. I started it up somehow and looked and the voltage was normal, so i know the alternator is good. Since the wireing for these cars is almost identical to the trucks, i was hopeing someone could help me figure out what is drawing on the battery
