Dash Lights

The dash lights on my truck only work on the left hand side of the intrument panel. From the middle of the speedo to the right I have no lights. I have searched through the threads but haven't found anything really helpful.

I have checked the bulbs and they are all good and couldn't find any loose wires. But I will keep on looking

As You've probably found out, the wiring is lt. blue / red for dash lighting. Got a multi-meter or test light to check out the "power" & where it stops.

I had the same problem, most likely one or more of your bulbs is not making good contact to the printed circuit board. Most likely the plastic ears holding them in have become brittle and either bent or broke off completely.

Remove the cluster and inspect the printed circuit and the bulb socket mounting tabs. You may need to replace the plastic backing plate the guages and circuit mount to.

Good Call, and the first sign of the dreaded Cluster Rot. If your cluster is showing signs like this get the backing plastic out of a 1981 to 1985 Econoline van. The plastic is superior, and is a direct replacement. Just swap the gauges, speedo, and printed circut over as needed etc... Good luck.

Grab a tester and test your connections to see if your getting power. Then determine the problem from there.
