aod transmission
i smoked the orignal transmission (broken planetary)
got a rebuilt trans from phenoix rebuilt transmissions (ebay)
i have tv pressure set at 30psi (they say 25-30 psi with a 5/16 gauge between the cable end and 35 psi with ford tool)
i have passing gear at like 45-50 mph. trans shifts good if i`am hard on the gas. if i`am extra light on the gas the trans shifts to fast. if i drive it normaly the 2nd to 3rd shift seems to take for ever to enguage (like a stuck valve in the valvebody)the harder into the gas i am the faster 3rd will enguage. thats in just drive. if i drive it in od it shifts the same but when you slow down it stays in od so long it almost kills the engine. then disenguages and it feels like it shifts to neutral for like 2 seconds then to 1st gear. also feels like the converter is always locking and unlocking if i totaly let off the gas at like 45mph roll slowing down without touching the brakes.
the trans does not slip or leak and i have flushed the fluid system before installing the rebuilt trans
i also added a 24000 lb cooler (also have radiator cooler hooked up to) the lines to the trans are in great shape no kinks the linkage is rite. i think the trans i got is an early case because the inspection cover bolt holes are like 1/4 inch and the orignal inspection cover bolts from the 1st trans are like 5/16.
also the holes for the trans lines on the new trans have a real small diameter and i had to find adaptors to make the orignal lines work (reducers) what controls converter lockup?
is there a switch on the brake peddel that could be bad?
i was thinking of buying an aftermarket valve body,installing a shift kit,and changing the servo to the ford A servo. i dont know if this will fix the problem or not. also the speedo is wrong it says i`am doing like 60 whyen i`am only going like 45mph anyone that has the answers to thes questions your time would be great thanks
