today all of the sudden my ford f150 5.4 liters speedometer started to not work and the airbag light came on while it was having trouble shifting! the windshield wipers don't work as well! checked all fuses! after messing around with smacking things under the hood it started to shift right but has a glitch in the electrical and it sounds like it's trying to start( this is while it's running) it's all glitchy and i would like to know if anyone has had similar issues?
was it by chance raining that day? or did you go through a car wash right before it happened?
It's common for water to leak down on some mucho importante electronics and cause issues
It sounds as if you may have some issues with ground connections. Folks have reported strange issues if the ground strap in the engine compartment is bad. But, it could be any ground.
Alldata ( an online reference) sometimes shows drawings of the ground locations. Around here you can get access to Alldata at the library. Might be worth checking out.
Failing that, you can get a voltmeter and try and find grounds. Try checking for voltage between various grounds and your battery negative terminal. (You can CAREFULLY use one lead of a jumper cable on the battery to the meter lead). You should activate things like lights/heaters etc while you're doing this. If you see anything more than a tenth of a volt or so it's worth checking.
Ranger guys are always talking about a GEM module ( General Electronics Module) that can fail and screw up a lot of things. I don't know if there's an equivalent on the F150.
