Ok heres my problem. Everytime my truck gets wet all of my electronics start freaking out and im absolutely stumped. I dont know much about fixing vehicles but normally i am handy enough to fix things myself so i really dont feel like paying someone $75 a hour to mess around probably doing the same thing i would be doing but this problem has just been spinning my brain in circles.
Ok so heres a list of what happens
- transmission wont shift until super high rpms and then rocks.
- speedometer stops working
- overdrive on off light starts blinking and every once in awhile the 4x4 light will blink on and off
- the radio will some times still turn on even when the key is not in.
- the battery is always dead the next day.
And the list go's on ...
Normally after a couple days everything is working normal again. :-/
What i want to know is where the water is getting in and what its getting to???.
This is a common problem with these trucks. Your Generic Electronic Module, or GEM located behind the fuse panel under the drivers side dash gets wet due to a leak at the windshield. Water gets through the seal and drips onto the module causing everything from your winshield wipers and your blinkers going haywire. The problem you have sounds like that and the fix is to pretty much seal the leak with silicone or get a new seal installed. Unless some one here has a better solution in which they have fixed it before but from what I have read about it, that's your fix.
Holy crap i have been trying everything under the sun asking mechanic's, spraying my engine in dw40 for months and nothing worked and then you solved it in like a few minutes from when i posted this! I honesty cant thank you enough.
