June open chat thread
Just some items will not fit in Bronco, like recliner, TV, etc. Bed will stay here until the 15th, as well the computers, most everything else can go.Don't know where I am moving too. May end up sleeping in Bronco, or going to the local homeless shelter.
I only have a non-op on the Bronco, so I really don't want to sleep in it, but it beats sleeping on a bus bench.Jim
I do have a 3rd option of moving in with my brother, but he is in Oregon, and I can't drive the Bronco up there with the Non-Op, or move my bed, or recliner etc. And I am suing the guy who hit me, so I have to stay down here for that (even though the trial date is June of 2013) also, I still have doctor's appointments down here for the leg issue. The biggest reason I can't move up to Oregon though is I would lose my NorCal Chapter leader title!
Can't do that!

Yeah, I hope things work out too, not exactly sure what will happen on the15th, but I will just roll with the punches.

My current roommate found a house for sale in a decent neighborhood for $38k It is in the same area as my bestfriend. 2 bedroom 1 bath. If it is still available when I get my settlement, I may just buy it. (If not, I am sure there will be other houses for sale by then) My roommate has 50k in his savings account, but doesn't want to buy it because both bedrooms are connected by a sliding door (he also hates to spend money). That would not stop me, as I could have my friend's boyfriend put a wall there. He worked construction before being laid off. Also, buying a house would mean I don't have to worry about roommates leaving, and forcing me to leave. I would not need a 5th wheel trailer either as I would be living in the house. I could buy a small trailer to be towed by the Bronco when I go to gtg's or poker runs thru Death valley.
. Of course, all this will happen next year after the settlement arrives, not this year, when I can't even afford to pay attention! LOLJim

You two sure get up early.
The only reason I am up this early is I have a 8am doctor's appointment, and in order to get there on time I have to take the 5:47am bus.
As for the housing market, yeah I would say a 2 bedroom 1 bath house for 38k in a decent neighborhood is an excellent deal. I am also sure prices will not stay this low forever. The earlier I get the settlement the better. Owning my own home would be awesome!Jim
My attorney says if they offered that up front, they know this case is worth a lot more. And because of the umbrella policy, and the fact that the driver did not look my way before pulling out, he seems to think we will get a lot more than 100k. I hope so, at first I just wanted the medical bills paid, and my attorney fees covered, with a small amount for me, but now that I have to wait another year on top of the year it has already been, (not too mention being out of work so long, and trying to live on this unemployment amount) I want as much as possible. If I don't get enough to buy a house, I should at least get enough to buy a used 5th wheel trailer, and F-250 to tow it with. Then I can forget about having to live with roommates, and all the problems and pitfalls that go with it.I have no credit, so I will have to wait for the settlement to do anything. And even if I had credit, I would still have no way of paying back the loan on my unemployment amount. I agree though, 38k is pretty low for a house, especially one in a nice area. I have not seen the house, just taking my roommate's word that it exists. I will check CL and see if he found it listed there. Contacted the local homeless shelter, but they don't offer overnight shelter, just services during the day, like three meals, laundry, showers etc. So I still need to find a place to park the Bronco. I know Walmart lets RV'ers park in their lot, so maybe they will let me. I am sure I would not be able to park there long term though. So I will bounce around different lots.
On a different note, I wasted most of this morning on that trip to the Dr's office. Got there an hour early because the second bus I needed came 23 minutes ahead of schedule (or it was running 9 minutes late, which I would believe) and there were no benches to sit on so I stood for an hour, only to find out from the receptionist, that "my provider cancelled the appointment because it needs to be six months after my last appointment with the Dr." They failed to let me know they cancelled it, so the trip was a total waste of time. They did however, set a new appointment for August 15th, also at 8am! WooHoo! LOL
