A couple years ago i traded some powerstroke parts for a 79 F250 project truck and have finally started it. It is a 4X4 with a rebuilt but not completed 400, automatic transmission and dana 60 axels front and rear. So far i have completely disassembled it, sandblasted and painted the frame and axles.
Thanks for the welcome! I will try to figure out pictures because i am doing this all from my phone. I also just bought a 86 F250 to use for parts for the 79. It has the 460 and manual transmission. I am going to use the dana 70 rear axle out of it.
I'm curious, how do you like that portable blaster? How effective is it with that compressor? What type of media did you use? I'm thinking of getting one like that to use with soda for paint removal.
The blaster worked ok for being worn out but it took 1000 pounds of silica sand to blast the frame and axles. That compressor in the picture is the small one i piggybacked into my big one. The whole setup worked very well on the chevy frame that i blasted before the ford frame. Only took 500 pounds taking just undercoat off instead of rust.
I used the same blaster. The only problem I had was that the tips get worn after a while. When the hole in the end gets big it is not as effective. Other wise it was great. Just make sure you buy extra tips.
