Back from Yellowstone. Good trip and no mechanical issues. May need to replace radiator on truck as it tried to get hot a few times when I don't think it should have but worked well.
10.86 mpg towing and 15.9 mpg empty (mountain driving). Put 3300 miles on and no issues. I love the tow haul downshifting in mountains, never hardly used brakes. Dsl has alot more power in higher elevations and pulls way better on interstate at 67-70 mph than V10. It has power but if I stayed on it the temp would climb to 230 deg and I would back off.
How is everyone?
Hey Lee! Glad your trip went well! Like Dave said did your fan come on. These trucks have a great cooling system so it shouldn't be an issue. You might check your intercooler/radiator to see if it is plugged at all. My fan was coming on more than I thought it should and when I pulled my rad and intercooler they were plugged pretty good with bugs and crap. Pressure washed them all clean and never an issue since.

That is a lot of time hitting your ball around!
Oh yeah, fan came on and it makes alot of noise, not bad noise but more you know it is moving air. I bet I have a slight blockage somewhere. On the freeway at 67 it ran at 195-205 if not long or steep hills and 80 outside temp.
On a mile long grade out of river valley it would drop into 5th gear and go but the temps would go up to 220-230. One time I was half asleep and the warning chime went off and the scan gauge read 245, I let off it and went to pull over and after about 500' it had cooled back to 220.

Well that is good the fan is coming on. That means that part is working correctly. I would check for plugged fins in the rad,IC,a/c cond and trans cooler.
