Would the "special" socket just be the head of 3/8" or 1/4" socket wrench or an extension? (just looking at the picture it looks like a square hole)

And upon removal will there will be a screen in the IPR itself or in the hole it came out of?

NO^^^^^^^^^^

There a couple Types one is a Socket that has a slot in it some get deep socket and cut a slot in it

Or a Crows foot type wrench

Either a 36mm or 1 3/8 socket/crowfoot

I just ordered an EGR delete kit from Custom Diesel and will check the IPR screen when installing the kit. I see now where a socket with a section cut out will be needed. Would now be the time to go to a 4" turbo back exhaust?

Also, the screen on the IPR -- is that replaceable or do I have to replace the whole IPR?

My ICP is on the passenger side valve cover, easy to access.

You could swap to 4in turboback whenever

Depends what you find when you pull IPR Out

Yes they sell just a screen kit for IPR IIRC

But if you find IPR with a Damaged screen Like a Hole in screen or it looks pushed up in the IPR a little you will need the whole IPR Valve. An air test might point you in a diffrent direction IDK

With the DTC you have being HPO Problem might be worth putting a new IPR in
