It was quite a task... I'll let the pictures do the talking. It looked like I hit something because it looked like blood everywhere. Most of the red you see was there BEFORE I started the days work. I even found a lot of black ELC on things. Not sure if it burnt or just caught a lot of dirt.
Did the strap really work holding the pulley in place? I had to get a fan wrench to do my wife's. A strap would just let it slip.
Yes the strap actually held it pretty well... but not 100%. I too was suprised at how much traction it was applying to the pulley. I wasnt able to hold both wrenches so I used this method and used the A/C compressor to lock the pulley with the other wrench. Then tugged on the nut. That broke it loose.

Yeah... some cavitation.. ELC has been in for 10,000 miles maybe?

I've tried straps and fan wrench that goes on 3 bolts. Best method for me is to clamp a pair of vise grips on the lip of the pulley and let the water neck hold the pulley in place.

Thats essentially what I did with the 4-bolt wrench and A/C compressor.
