He's Back!!!

Nightmare March 14th 2011.

My boy is back!!!

Went to hungry valley this past weekend to test the new axles and suspension but it rained the entire time. Couldn't do much cause I was slipping and sliding all over the place due the wet clay. But I manage to snap a few pictures here and there.

The day ended Sunday afternoon after I couldn't resist the temptation of going through a puddle of water (video coming up soon). I forgot that the piece of crap $65 "special Roush" paper filter can't get a spit of water on it. I was DONE after the filter got wet and water damaged my MAF so I got towed back home for the millionth time.

This is what happens when muddy water touches the $65 "special Roush" paper filter.

Planning a trip back Dec. 3-4

Awesome pics.

Didn't you know that you were in water deep enough to be injested? Any airfilter there would have failed to prevent a tow. I don't see how the $65 Roush Filter can be blamed? The alternative would be to pass the water and mud.

Maybe time for a snorkle setup.

^^^ Good point, but the thing is, water only splashed on it, water was, maybe 2 feet deep.

Only 2 feet deep, but weren't the tires kicking it up and are you still picking up from inside the the engine compartment ot left fender? Not ragging on you, just saying .... maybe better place to pick up air.

That filter looks like it went through the Maytag with the dirty cloths.

Nice work, is there an air filter on the market than could handle that water?

This is how the Raptor should have been built, but that will never happen with the cost of an SAS at SVT.

Dude, cool truck! I was following the build on your other thread. That was an awesome vid too though the opening to the sound track had me worried.

I've had the same problems with paper filters off road. A snorkel is the best solution but I've had good luck using the oil based filters too. Though they are no where near impervious to water they can take a couple good splashing before they fail. There are a couple of slip on prefilters on the market that may help too.
