compressor wheel
Has anyone ever changed the compressor wheel on their idi turbo...i need to change mine...a d it looks like I can just run the nut off and pull it out and replace it

Not always. I'm not sure if Garrett chargers are the same, but BW chargers are zero balanced. You can swap out any individual piece.

Yep, some turbos have the shaft and wheels balanced together and some are balanced independently. We really need to know what kind of turbo you have. Is your wheel damaged or are you trying to get more boost with a different wheel?
You are going to at least have to take off the down pipe because you need to put a socket on the impeller wheel in order to get the nut off the compressor wheel. Then you will need to torque the new wheel down to spec. In most cases, you also have to take the compressor housing off to remove the compressor wheel.

Ah, didn't know that. I figured one of you turbo guru's would be along with more info anyways.
