I Went to clean out my behind the seat tank in my 72 and reinstall it and about 1/2 pound of rust came out of it, id say its junk. Prices are all over the place, DC is 300.00 Lmc is 199.00 , Blue Oval is 209.00 . Is dc's tank a better tank for that extra 100 ??? Who has bought a tank lately that can steer me in the right direction?
Haven't seen a DC tank so I can't say anything about them but I got mine through LMC and it bolts in no problems and everything works as it should haven't read any difference between the two but I know anytime I need sheet metal ill be going to DC next time they have the best fitting sheet metal for our trucks if anyone knows any differences between tanks I'd be interested to know
Its really crusty, so much rust came out i filled a cup so it has to be thin . i think replacement is needed in this case.
I worked really hard to clean mine, about 4 hours of pressure washing whatever I could reach thru the fill hole, went through about a gallon of purple power degreaser, and then I put gravel in it and shook it around to loosen up anything leftover, and repeated the previous steps. Then I sealed it with a kit I bought from JcWhitney. Reinstalled it, and have had constant problems; it's still full of rust. I just ordered a new LMC tank a few days ago so it should be here soon. All I can say for sure is that after this many years, cleaning the old tank is no easy process and in my case was a huge waste of time.
Like cracker said I first pulled mine and started cleaning it I could of filled a gallon container with all the rust coming out and it just kept coming after trying to get it all out I started looking for a new tank after you clean it and seal it how long will it hold up until you get stuck on the side of the road with a clogged fuel filter I figured spend money on a new tank and never have to touch it again probably

The fuel tank is reproduced by Blue Oval Truck Parts, who sells it the other repro parts sellers and the general public alike.
A couple of years ago when this tank was first made available again after being obsolete for 20+ years, I called Dennis Carpenter, asked where the tank was repro'd. They gave me the Blue Oval info and said Asia.
so in the end they are all the same tank whoever you buy it from just there prices are different? i did take notice to one difference i got my tank for my 64 f100 but am ending up using it for my 71 f250 i have to use the metal feed tube coming out of the tank to the pump from my 64 because my 71's stock pickup tube is larger

Pretty much... I've worked in a factory for 7 years and its amazing how many different labels we run on so many products.
I thought i read somewhere that B O made all the tanks, im suprised that Dc marks it up so much. Thanks for all the imfo, i think ill just call Bo and order it direct. What does it mean by w/o evaporative or w/ evaporative. Im thinking i need the tank thats w/o evaporative.

With Evap/Em, there's a round hole in the tank for the fuel vapor valve. All 1970/72 Passenger Cars, F100's, Bronco's and Econolines sold new in CA have Evap/Em. By the late 1970's, all states required it.
