I used to have a 1997 f150 that had p235/70r16 size tires. I now have a 2000 f150 that I bought with low miles, but it has p255/70r16 tires. The 2000 f150 needs new tires and I am wondering if I need the p255 size tires because I looked it up and the p235 size tires were an option on the 2000 f150. What is involved in changing tires sizes or is it a bad idea to do so? I imagine the computer needs to be reprogrammed? What about the speedometer?
The label on the drivers door on the 2000 f150 does say p255 size tires...
Put them on and enjoy.
The speedo is and will be off a bit but you can see that the next time you run by a road side speed monitor and then know what correction to apply to the speed indication.
My truck is stock and 2 to 3 mph high reading and it has the stock size tires.
Good luck.
You would have to get into the program and change the data word bits to do any corrections.
If a dealer will do that, your good to go.
If you have mechanical drive, the speedo gear would be the changed.
