Thanks for the tip!!

Yeah I believe the shortbeds have a 16 gal front, and 19 gal rear. The long beds have a 19 gal front tank, and 19 gal rear tank.

I have reg cab SB and like it. Has a shell and sometimes gets mistaken for a Bronco. I sometimes wish I had extended cab though.
A rear window slider is essential for the occasional 10' 2x4 or PVC pipe etc. 8' materials go in diagonal OK.
I can way overload my SB with firewood (weight) as it is.

Well really it depends on the year model. Lol. 87-89 had a 19 gal rear tank, 90-96 had a 18 gal rear tank.

Why they did that, I have no idea.

I like my short bed for around town and just the look of it, but for a load, long bed all the way.

It's probably because the '90 received a new fuel pump that took up move volume.

Depends, my long bed still holds slightly over 20 in each tank, but my fuel pump is on the side of my motor.

And something to consider also--only the SWB/short bed 4x2 can have two tanks. The post 1988 or so 4x4 SWB trucks can only have the rear tank. The 18 gallons available sure can get scary when off road in the middle of nowhere!
