Just got back from a weekend camping trip out to Hagerstown MD and in the process climbed over a few rolling hills on I-70. I have mounted pillar gauges to monitor the ECT (mounted in engine block) and Trans temps. While climing the grades my ECT would climb to 220f the rest of the time even on flat interstate it would stay at ~210f over all trip was about 3 hours. From reading other post I have seen that 220 should be the alarm temp. My degas bottle has fluid in it at the correct level. How concerned should I be with these temps and what should I be looking for? I just got AE with the Ford bundle the day before I left for my trip and was able to check my delta between ECT and EOT and it was only ~7 degrees different. My normal driving temp with no load is about 195. I bought the truck used a few months ago with 80k miles and it appears to be in good condition, I do know from an OASIS report that it had the EGR cooler replaced at 60k miles.
I just pulled 10K tall travel trailer back from Kansas into a 15 mph headwind at 65 mph. Saw 215F several times on ECT, but fan would kick in and knock it down. My EOT (engine oil temp) never exceeded 221F.
Thanks for the replys. I knew my TT wasnt all that heavy I just worried after seeing those temps but I guess it is normal from what you guys are all saying.
