High EOT when towing??
My engine oil temp will hit 235 when towing my trailer up a good grade. My trailer weighs in about 10k. Does this temp seem to high or is this normal for a 6.0? My water temp will stay under 220 or so on the same hill, I can hear the fan fan kick in. Without the trailer under normal highway driving my eot and ect are within a few degrees of each other right around 188. The high oil temp scares me, just curious to see what oil temps you guys are reaching while towing. Thanks

04 F350 4x2 dually 105,000 miles pulling 14,500# 5th. I will see 215 to 220 ECT with EOT of 12 to 19 more than the ECT. At 218 the fan will be on full at 2000 RPM and both ECT and EOT will drop 2 to 4 degrees.
I did have a new oil cooler installed at 85,000. I was getting up to 30 degree spread with EOT to 250.
These are 6 to 7 % grades for 15 to 20 miles.

ECT 190, EOT up to 222 when uphill.

The EGR cooler was pressure test and pasted so Ford did not replace the cooler. I had installed a coolant filter at 56,000 but I am assuming the oil cooler had already been partially plugged by then.
The 1st coolant filter was totally plugged within 300 miles. 2nd filter lasted about an other 1000 miles. 3rd I replaced at 80,000 when I changed my coolant (was not plugged) and I am still on the 4rd after 26,000.

Thanks, very interesting, maybe I will test that before I change the EGR cooler. I know it is a lot or work to redo the EGR once you are almost there, but we are talking about around 600 dollars more to change a good working EGR cooler, if it ain't broke, leave it alone. I am pretty sure many Powerstroker have many miles with the stock cooler.
