I'm a little curious about "normal" oil temps...I have a 2012 F350, DRW and I recently took a trip to Elephant Butte Lake in New Mexico. I wasn't pulling a trailer and the bed was empty, the ambient temp was 107 and my oil temp at 75 mph varied between 215 and 221. Is that a "normal" range or do you guys think it is a little high?

I just spoke with the Diesel mechanic. We talked about oil temps, he said wouldn't get much higher than 210, he said maybe 214 under a load. 220+ I would start investigating, asking dealer. Assuming its a 6.7 L and it IS a known issue with that upper oil pan the mechanic said the engineer told him. They are producing them like crazy, they had to get mine directly from the vendor that makes the pan.

Thank you for that bit of information, I will be talking with my service manager on Monday.

It was 103° outside two days ago and my oil temps on the interstate hardly broke 200°. Highest oil temp I've seen is 205°, unloaded on the interstate at 75+.
Glad to hear that you got your truck back and it's fixed. I monitor my oil temp on a daily basis and it rarely breaks 205 degrees 210 max when hauling an 8000 lb camper.
This post is scaring me, I just purchased a 2012 F250 with a 6.7L two weeks ago on a Thursday, noticed a hesitation on acceleration (intermittant at this time), figured I would bring it back into the dealership the following Tuesday, (6 Days owned) with 512 miles on it.
The dealer could not find anything wrong, they told me they updated the engine and transmission software. I came in that afternoon and picked it up, and it had the issue right in their parking lot. So I had the mechanic ride with me and he experienced what I was getting. So we scheduled for another day for them to work on the issue due to my needing the truck for a trip.
Took the truck from the lot, went 6 miles, and the temp guage showed overheating with a panel alarm with the hesitation very pronounced. I called the dealer, and they told me to pull over and they would send out a tow truck.
They kept it over night and now tell me that it is an EGR Cooler problem and they ordered the part which should be in by Monday of this week.
It is now Friday, and they tell me the part is not in yet and it is on emergency order with Ford, but Ford is not shipping the parts due to an issue!!!
I will not accept 30 days to fix a truck!! I use this for my business, what would you do? Lemon Law, demand a different truck?, leave Ford?
This truck is my first Ford purchase switching from a 2006 Chevy Duramax, and trying to change loyalty to Ford because they didn't use goverment Money like the others did...

I've learned over the last couple years, Ford doesn't have the best Service/Warranty by any means. Simple fixes are one thing, but more major repairs seem to take far longer than they should. I've read about some people being without their truck for 2-3 months over a single part that Ford can't get.
Ford's typical answer to all things warranty - Can not duplicate customer's complaint!
I would talk to the dealer owner or general manager and explain these issues, and what it will take to resolve. By all means get a repair order from them everytime it's there.
Okay an update from my dealer today in regards to my oil temps, I spoke with one of the diesel techs and I asked him what the "normal" operating temp should be for my oil temp (i asked him for an answer before I told him what my temps have been getting up to, that way he couldn't say "oh that's normal". But enough of my conspiracy issues), he told me that the normal range should be 195 to 199 unloaded at highway speeds and around 207 with a load. I told him that mine got to 219 just on the 6 mile drive to his shop and he said, "Ya, you definately have an issue and if I had to guess I would say that it was due to a faulty EGR sensor, it will be the third one in here in 4 months". Didn't like to hear that I have a problem but at least I'm hopeful in that he knew of the issue.
Anyway, just wanted to share that info with you all and I hope that you have a great Independece Day!!!!!!
