pulling my 5er (about 13.5K) up the grapevine in 100 degree outside temps, the oil temp never goes over 218. And I got to keep my foot out of it or she'll easily do 70 MPH. I had actually came to a complete stop on the steepest portion because of a CHP traffic stop. Once we got rolling again, I was shocked at how quickly I get up to 65mph again.
My oil temp will approach 240 degrees in the most extreme situations but that's as far as it goes. And it will only be there as long as the hill is still steep and I have my foot into the throttle. I think there are lots of guys who have reported this.
***Update*** Ford contacted dealer today. They've had this issue on another truck and the fix they said to do is the upper oil pump and so they said not to change the oil cooler. I called Ford and logged my question and concern of why did it never throw a code?

Just an update, almost a month, still no truck back.
What I'm told, Ford redesigned/modified the oil pan or upper oil pan. There were none available. They finally got one sent yesterday from the motor division.
Picked up my truck after 35 days. I received phone calls from both Ford customer care and the dealership weekly. I had few demands as I'm not one to kick someone when their down. My demands started with one monthly payment since they had the truck for a month. Then we were to discuss all the anxiety, stress, worry about our truck/trailer decision. Ford stepped out and offered up two monthly pmts which exceeded what we thought. They cleaned the truck and made sure there was a full tank of fuel. all-in-all, I think that is fair as I did not need the truck while it was there.
Drove the truck home, oil temp never went above 212 degrees, and only hit that once in awhile, mainly sat on 210. Everything seems to be good, and they assured me that everything is covered by the warranty if anything else comes up. I'll crawl out there under the truck in a little while. I did see the old pan, oil filter, and oil cooler that are to be sent back to Ford. Inspected them and no burnt oil, nothing out of the ordinary, so it must be internal to the pan tubing. Will be talking with the mechanic this morning as he'd already left for the day. Dust storm took care of clean truck, but she's back home now.
Sounds like you've had one of the better dealer experiences, with decent regular communications.. I am excited to hear your updated towing experience..
