I've been chasing a erratic power lock and blown fuse problem on my 2003 cc f250. I replaced the drivers side switch that locks all the doors and thought for a while that I had solved it. It came back, but now I see evidence of frayed chewed wires very close to the parking brake pedal. This actually makes sense for being the true cause of the problem. Of course I will get in there and replace and re-route the wires and put a loom cover on them. My question is= Is this a common problem? have you guys seen this on your trucks? There 5 or 6 small gauge color coded wires that I think end up in the driver door. thanks guys and ladies..................dd
No Yahiko, I dont have that particular problem. I agree your question is a legitimate question though. I think the wire somehow got far enough inboard from the left kick panel and the plastic cover by your left foot to get caught in the parking brake mechanism. Probably from prior repairs. Just wonder if others have had this happen. dd
it used to be an issue with the 92-96 obs trucks. I had quite a few where I had to re-wire that area...and the headlights. kick panel and the parking brake did the trick over time
yours is the 1st of seen in this body style. I'd look at mice first....but I can see how years of e-brake use and just general foot banging could do it
I believe I have solved the wires at the parking brake problem. the symptoms were erractic door locking action and blown fuse that feeds the power windows and dash gauges. I got the panels apart enough to get a good look at the wires, 5 wires that I think were put in by the dodge dealer where I bought the used 03 f250 cc 4wd to enable their after market "security" system which locks the doors with a fob. The dealer's guy laid the wires across any thing under the dash just to get it to work and after 2 years they found their way to the mechanical hardware that sets/releases the parking brake and got chopped by the mechanism. It totally makes sense to me. the wires are repaired and rerouted and now covered with some of that loom cover plastic. Thanks to the brothers that took the time to help! This wasn't a Ford problem, it was a dodge problem!
