Help with wipers on L9000

Hey all,
Been a really long time since I have posted here.
I have a problem and I am trying to figure this out. First, I have a 94 Ford L9000 Mobile Home Toter Truck single axle. If it matters Vin#RVA23887.
About a week ago I was driving and the intermittent wipers stopped working. So I put them on Low and then they stopped working with seconds also. The high worked and has stayed working up to now. I think if anyone owns these trucks knows that parts are either very expensive to get or they are just obsolete, which really sucks. So, anyway, I got a new Trico Motor that replaced the older Ford F7PU-17504-CA motor. First of all, it was wired correctly for the Trico and did not need the new harness. So turned it on and only got High to work. So found out from dealer that the switch is obsolete. Nice! So I found out that they used the same style switch in older Ford cars and trucks. Went to junkyard and found them. I got two of them just to be safe. I came back and tried both of them, still only High will work. I took the Module off that I guess works the intermittent wiper mode. But I all the wires go into it so maybe it works everything, not sure. But I took it off and still only High will work. I called up dealer to see if I could get a new one. They said they only show 1 of them in the whole country and it is $1300. I had to laugh at that one!: But I figured if I am getting the same result with it plugged in or not plugged in, it is probably not that module. So, I am at a loss as to what else it could be. Unless I am missing something, I am following the wires from the switch, down to the plug that goes into the module and those wires are tapped into the ones coming from switch, then they go right out the firewall to the motor. So If I tried a putting 2 different switches on, tried it with and without the module plugged in and with a new motor and with all that the exact same result as when I started, what the heck else could it be. Is there a relay or something somewhere that I am missing??? I am at a loss as to where to go from here. HELP!!!
If it matters the Module is 17C476 and E6EB-14A624-AA

Well, I bet that module is what is doing the intermittent wiper mode. High just bypasses it and runs the wipers full-on.

Hopefully, someone else with more experience on these trucks will be along soon.

You might be able to wire in some aftermarket setup meant to provide intermittent wipers to older cars/trucks that never had them?

1981 thru today truck VIN's are 17 digits. You are missing the first 9, which I need before I can look up any of these parts.

The thing is, there is no L9000 listed in the Ford truck parts catalog w/intermittant wipers, only F & C Series trucks are listed with these parts.

17C476 is only the basic part or ID number for the wiper governor. What is its prefix and suffix?

The wiper governor (module) and the intermittant switch are not the same as all vehicles, there are dozens of different types, so you cannot expect them to work for your application.

I'm not much help on this problem, but I have a 95 LTL 9000 that has intermittent wipers on it and they work. I also have a 90 LT9000 that, when I got it 8 years ago, the wipers didn't want to turn off when the switch was turned off. Did some checking of things and ordered a switch which didn't help at all. Got a new motor from Ford (it fit many different vehicles). Installed it and then the wipers turned off, but would not park. Lots of screwing around to no avail. I'm the only one driving it, so I just turn them off at the proper place with no problems.
Talk about high prices. I have a bad radio in the 95 that I purchased last year. I took the radio out and it had a Ford part number so I called my dealer to see if it's available. Yes it is available but, the list price is around $900. She sold me a Panasonic radio for $158. The Ford radio that was in it is what it came with new, looks exactly like a 95 Ford pickup radio but is a different part number. I don't know when they will sell that Ford radio, even with the discount, the price is crazy.

Since there are no Ford part numbers marked on parts after 1956, the number you gave your dealer from the radio chassis is the Ford ID engineering number. Dealer then crossed the ID number to a part number.

Since you failed to mention which radio this is (there are SIX different types, 4 are the same as passenger cars), I cannot give you the real MSRP & FTE member discount prices.

Many dealers are infamous for marking the MSRP up...some waaay up! FTE sponsor Tousley Ford sells parts at their actual cost + 10% and is located in White Bear Lake MN tousleyfordparts.com.

There is no wiper governor nor intermittant wiper switch listed in the 1990/ Ford Heavy Truck Parts Catalog for L Series trucks, why I asked the OP for his complete VIN and ID engineering number off his wiper governor.

Some peeps do not know the difference between the L Series, the C Series, the F Series. I've seen plenty of evidence of this here on FTE over the past 5+ years. Peeps think they have one series, while it's another.

The 6th thru 8th digits of the 17 digit VIN (used 1981 thru today), when decoded, define the series.

It is the 95 LTL9000 that has the intermittent windshield wipers.
The radio that was in the truck is Ford # F4HF-19B132-AC. The one that the parts lady quoted me was, I believe a replacement for this radio. The truck came new with this radio.
The VIN on this truck is 1FTZA90W2SVA47484.

Hey NumberDummy. Sorry I never got back to you. I dont know what happened.
Anyway, I am still having the problem. I was wondering if you could see what you could find. 1FTYS 95L1R VA23887. It is a 94 Ford L9000 Aeromax
Seems that everything for this truck is either a fortune to purchase or they have discontinued it. It is just that I really miss having the delayed wipers so if there is a way for me to fix it, I would like to. Let me know if you need any additional info.

Years ago you could purchase an add-on switch that would make a previously on-off with hi and low wiper an intermittent system that was for the older vehicles. I don't know if still available or not. Maybe with a little research it could still be found. J.C. Whitney used to have things like that.
