Yes the F26E is the common swap for the rear tank for more capacity. You just need to bend your sending unit float so it will reach the bottom of the tank or your gauge will read empty too soon
Thanks Brad,
I think I am going to go with that tank and the doorman sending unit that matches it. I was confused as to why it said this tank would only only work with 87-89 Fseries. According. To Ford 90 was an an engineering change that added a vented hose. Since my truck has a 6 inch left I think I can do away with that flattened house anyway. I can't foresee any other problems it would have since it would bolt right in.
The only truck(s) these large capacity tanks won't work in are the cab as chassis - with the rear plastic tank and skid plate / strap assembly . ( which sucks ! I have 2 service truck!) since you have a 1990 diesel I'd say to use a modified 1987-1989 sender . Since you don't need the intank lift pump you can remove that and the connectors on the sender .
I agree. I tale to the people at Doorman that makes the sending unit and they said there wasn't a pump on that unit so it should work well. I am going to replace the flattened hose with the regular hose so I won't take an hour filling it up at the pumps. Thanks for all the input.
