Bronco fuel tank in F-150?
Is it practical to put a 33 gallon Bronco fuel tank in an 88 F-150 SWB 2WD 4.9L? The OEM 16.5 gallon tank just isn't big enough for this fuel consumption machine. I know I'll lose the spare tire, but I'm more concerned with the fit, fuel lines/pumps/sending unit, and the clearance under the vehicle. I know there are aftermarket tanks for my application but I'm not spending more than $150 on this venture. Any comments/advice?

Bronco fuel tank in F-150?
The spacing all looks good, but I'm not sure about the filler neck. The tank itself is held in place by the skid plate. The holes for the 4 front bolts are already in the front crossmember, but the rear four will have to be drilled. The main concern now is electrical and fuel lines. Hope those vent hoses fit. Is there a good way to test the sending unit and fuel pump before installation? Is the sending unit and fuel pump on the 16 gal tank different from the 33 gal? I would assume so.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Dec-02 AT 03:31 PM (EST)]You will need a longer sending unit. The Bronco sending unit is about twice as long. If you put yours in, it will not be able to suck the fuel fron the bottom of the tank. At some point they changed between high pressure and low presure in tank pumps. So you need to make sure that you get the correct pressure pump for your application.
Also you should be able to get regural straps for the Bronco tank.
