So I'm doing a little diagnostic driving to figure out exactly what vibrating on my truck ( I do believe that my overdrive is screwed, not sure what it means just yet but I suppose that's another thread). Anyway, my check engine light has been on since I got the truck, I was cruising down the local highway with the OD and of course my rpm's were up and as I let off the pedal to slow down the check engine light went out. As soon as I touched the pedal it came back on again. Seems like it only happens at higher rpm's. Has anyone had this issue or maybe familiar with it? So far this forum has been way faster (and cheaper ) than going to the shop for an answer. So there it is...any ideas?
We could guess, but really, knowing what code(s) are being set would tell us more. Have you thought about investing in AE? Or an aeroforce scan gauge? Or watching the local craigslist for a used edge / superchips / diablo type programmer than can pull codes from these engines?
You should try to get the codes pulled. You may have some luck with the AZ code reader, but don't hold your breath. The most cost effective way is to take it to a transmission shop. They will almost always pull codes as part of their free diagnostic. Just hang out near the tech and get the number. It may be something simple.
I have my fingers crossed that it will end up being something simple but that inner just my luck voice is telling me that something is most definitely wrong in the tranny. I guess we will see. I am going to try and get the codes pulle this week if I can.
