So, I hate to keep asking dumb questions but if the harness is damaged by a squirrel or something what do you do?, replace the whole wiring harness? From what I can see that is a major undertaking requiring removal of a lot of pieces. I already can't see how to get at the 2 sensors that need checking, the more info I get the more frustrated I become.
Dont get frustrated it aint worth it Iv been there Before just makes things go from BAD to Worse case senereo. At this point is when I start Stripping Bolts and Breaking Things. When I get frustrated I tell myself its ONLY A MACHINE IT CAN BE FIXED
The BEST way to check the CMP & CKP sensors is to unplug the connecter at PCM and Use a DVM (Digital Volt Meter) and Probe the Connector at that Location
DONT try to Pull the the sensor out to test Wait untill the Diagnostic testing Positive confirms a BAD Sensor. If one of them sensors does turn out Bad we will give you the Info to get it out or whatever
Just check the Plug at those 2 sensors a Visual or whatever
Even wiggle the Harness alittle and try to start
I have a Picture of the PCM Plug Pin #s but it wont let me Post this Kinda file on FTE without a Paid Subscription. So maybe someone Else can post it. The only Guy I can think of right now that has this Info and ability to Post on FTE is David Chamberlin Try sending him a PM. Even try Bismic he would have it and there was somebody else I cant think of his Name ATM
If you want to give me your Email I can send it to you that way
Benny:
Been on the road for 2 weeks with no time off. After I hit the road a buddy of mine that knew what I was going through loaded my pickup onto a trailer and delivered it to a guy he has worked with on some of his company's older rigs. He did some testing, figured it was the FICM, replaced it with a used one he has laying around just for this purpose. That was the problem, so he figured some how that the top half of the FICM was the problem and replaced that on my unit. The pickup was delivered to him on 6/4 and on 6/6 it was back in my shop waiting for my return. Total bill 550.00 It's good to have friends that will step in and save you from yourself.
Thank you very much for all your patience and help. I have learned from this and now that the truck is running good I am going the figure out how to read codes and repair. It also helps that I can call this guy anytime and pick his brain.
