Starting Queston

I have a 96 F250 with a 5.8 that when cold seems to turn over more then I would expect when trying to start. It always starts but people tend to look at me like is that thing gonna start, then it fires up. It starts on 2nd crank when warm. I've tried both tanks, so I don't think it would be a fuel pump. Any suggestions?

Sounds a lot like a fuel issue to me. Either fuel filter or fuel pump. Any way to do a pressure check on it?

Age/condition of the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor? Filters?

If it does the same thing on both tanks then the fuel system is probably not the problem. As rla says, when was the last tune-up? What's the base timing set to?
