Finding an inline 300

Howdy all,
Ok, I just obtained a 48 f100 fixer cheap.
It's am mess alot is missing, but there's hope.
Since there's no engine or trans, I want to go with the 300 carbed.
Question: what years and models did the 300 come in?
Thanks in advance!

"what years and models did the 300 come in?" Plug that into a Google search.

Ford Straight-6 engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That should give you some good starting info.

For short though, the 300 mostly came in the F-100s, 150s, 250s, and 350s from 1965 to 1996. They put them in Broncos from 1980 to 1992. They also came in the E-Vans, but I don't know the years. Probably very similar to the F-trucks.

Not to be picky but, if it's a '48 it's an F-1.

Hrmm.. Maybe. There may have been some. Although, I think '92 was the "official" year they stopped putting them in there. Special order maybe?

Don't forget that the 300 was also used in the BIG trucks [F600?], I believe.

Yeah, like airport tugs, generators and pumps... this engine was so good that it COULD be found in many things. And you are right, AbandonedBronco... you did list the most common and easiest to find!

It was so good that UPS used it in their iconic brown delivery trucks.

The 300 is a good choice for your '48. The inline 6 leaves plenty of room for mods.no shortage of power!..I put a V6 in my 41 ihc and in hindsight the 300 would have made life a whole lot easier when it comes to exhaust and steering changes to steering shafts. Have fun with your build.

In the F series it was used from about 1966 through 1997, maybe even later in vans or delivery vehicles. Lots of irrigation pumps, swathers and other farm machinery used them.
