Question piston specs

What are the specifications/ dimensions needed to do the swap to 351 pistons into 300 I6??

special rods needed to or will stock rods be fine?

just trying to get a mild rebuild done on ole 300.

thanks

The rods will need to be bushed to fit the 351w piston pins, otherwise it depends on how much the block gets milled, etc.

wasn't there certain years that they shared the same wrist pin?

I may be wrong, but I swore 390 pistons were a direct swap?

10-4, the early model rods are supposed to have the correct size rod ends for 351 pistons if you can find them. Not sure what years...

Exactly my quandary...what years do I need to look at?

and if I do manage to find them, get them to clear everything, valves, head clearances...etc....will they take this 300 out of the realm of running on pump gas?

I wouldn't sweat finding early rods, it's no worry to have rods bushed to fit.

There are actually a ton more options for piston volume/compression height with a 351 piston, so whether or not it would run on pump gas depends on deck height, head volume, etc.
