I just recently finished a egr cooler delete on a 6.0 turbo 06 F-350, probably not the proper way tho, removed and installed a 35mm freeze plug and reinstalled cooler, cleaned intake, new oil cooler, all new gaskets. had trouble refiring but it finally started and ran fine for about 3 short trips from the house. Driving the other morning, it started right up and seemed to be running fine. Driving kids to school, engine revved a bit, then died on road, coasted into a gravel drive and tried to start! cranked but wouldnt fire. Left truck for about 15 minutes and returned with different vehicle, tried truck, STARTED! ran fine, shut key off to move other vehicle so i could get truck to better spot, came back and it wouldnt start. When i did egr delete, i put water in radiator to run for a bit, then flush, thought maybe it overheated and shut off, not the case i think, then got really stupid and had the truck towed to my house and not a diesel mechanic! maybe i need to realize im not a diesel mechanic and let a professional look at this thing. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
There is a no-start thread in the Tech folder. You will need to start gathering some information to properly troubleshoot - a scangaugeII is a good value for that.
Common issues w/ those symptoms are dummy plugs/standpipes/STC fitting.
