Tire brands

Hi: I'm curious as to what brand of tires you guy's perfer? I mostly drive highway mile's occasionaly with my 34' fifth wheel, and alot with my work trailer and bobcat, and I'm due for tire's. What brands do you think I should consider? I live in Arizona so heat is a factor with tread seperation. Thank's in advance MudGuts.

Firestone Transforce are good tires to. Repeating above stay away from goodyear and adding to that stay away from cooper also.

I have some cooper srm radial 2's on the front of my dually, love the grip, and they were rated for like 60000 miles and were designed for "commercial" use, i now have 20000 on them and already have to replace them

My van rear tires are Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor, expensive tires after some searchin.

Never heard anything good or bad about 'em, but I see 'em ALOT on company vehicles and vans.

Another common one is BFG Commercial T/A's.

Heard nothing but good things about Michelin's LTX M/S though, my camper is running on 6 of those. Love 'em.

Those Michelins are quite popular. My dad's 01 F350 has a set on. They're wearing REALLY well and give him no problems when towing their 33' camper.

On mine I have these: Tire Details - Discount Tire

Again, no complaints. Drives nice, REALLY quiet, and track well. I don't use my truck for any heavy towing, though, at least not yet.

My 'do not buy' brand is Falken, but that experience is from multiple sets of low-profile tires made for compact cars, so that may be a bit unfair as criteria to judge their truck tires. Still, there are too many good options out there to give 'em another chance.

Eeehhhh... michelin... for your guys sake i hope their pickup tires are better than their semi tires. Not sure that i like their car tires either.

Goodyear.. never heard anything bad about em.. i know thats what the military runs so they cant be too bad.

For a hwy tire, i would get a set of Toyo HTs, the mileage is great, dead quiet and great wet traction, but they do ride rather stiff, more like a mud terrain than a hwy tire.
Firestones, consistantly a good tire.

Cooper, my personal favorite, GREAT tire for the price, however ive only run STT's and one set of STC's

Toyo- the best if you can afford em.

My dad swears by yokahamas and they seem good enough, those or mastercrafts.

Nitto's - get alot of mixed reviews on em but almost everyone says "uh.. theyre alright"

I'm running these on my 97. I run gravel roads quite a little, and they are hard on tires. As I installed these tire at 2 different times, I've got 34000 on the first set, and 26000 on the second. But I neglected the allinement with the second set, and it chewed them off quite bad, not the tires fault, and they are about ready to be repalced. Rotated them every 6000. I also put 4 on the back of the 96 dually in Jan. And you are right they are getting quite expensive, I would use them again if I can afford them.

Mind you, those were already freshly installed on the van when I got it. I would have never bought expensive tires for it

Still looking for good used ones for the front though, and then an alignment. The wheels look like this down the road \--/ and what's left of the front ones, are getting chewed off pretty quick.

The guy before me had it aligned loaded, so now empty, it sits high.

Try to buy buy tires made in the U.S.A. Tire Rack has a good listing on the tires they sell's origin of manufacture.

the reason to not go Goodyear.

It does not matter how many miles are on the tires 90% of the time they will be separated on the inside tread block. does not matter what model of tire. low profile, regular car tire, truck tire.

as for made in the USA, yes i agree go for it, but most of the tires we sell say right on the sidewall made in some other country than america. obviously it does not say exactly that LOL but you get the idea.

no offense but, the Duratrash eh. they look SWEET and work great off road, but on road don't last, and ride like crap.
