Maxxis are real good tires I think. The two front tires on our dually are made by maxxis. They came with the truck when we got it, we went to get the rear tires replaced they were coopers and they were so dry rotted you could fit quarters in the cracks( replaced with firestone transforce). The tire tech said the rear coopers were 6yrs old and the front maxxis were 16yrs old ! They are still alright 1/6in. of tread left, one has two nails in it and still holds air. They are just now developing small tiny hair line slits in the tread grooves.
If you really want a set of tires to last buy them and set them out in the yard for a couple of years and wait for the rubber to harden.
Just don't expect to get good traction out of them. 
I bought a truck that had been sitting one time and the tires had cracks from dry rot. I thought they wouldn't last long seeing as they only had about 30% but they lasted almost a year and I can't tell you how many red lights and stop signs I almost slid through in the rain. I still catch my self slowing down for green lights that might turn red.
