I have an odd thing happening now and then.
I start the truck and for some reason the head unit will not come on for longer than normal also when this happens the SGII is delayed on also.
You can force the SGII on and the FICM voltage is where it should be.
Could this be a bad ignition switch? I have not had a deep look into the wiring
guide for this truck. I had hoped that some one has seen this issue.
Truck is: 2006 F-350 Crew cab long bed powerstroke Amarillo Edition.
Thanks in advance for the help
Sean Cheers and for all
Does it usually happen at the first start of the day? Or is is more random through out the day? If it happens at the first start of the day (stone cold start) your glowplugs are staying on longer to help burn the fuel. Thus until they shut off your charging system isn't working yet (way the truck is designed) and that maybe why your head unit is slower to start. Especially if it's powered through the "owner accessory" circuit.
Sounds like you have a head unit getting flakey. When the head unit doesn't come on try cycling the head light switch. If that works, start saving up for a head unit.
Yes Radio = head unit
But the SGII also has delay on too
The head unit is only about 2 months old and I hate it more every day
when I use the nav function Pioneer SUCKS AVIC-Z130 BT
Today battery voltage 12.6 before cold start battery voltage was 11.6 after start and running
FICM 48.0 - 47.5 never dropped below 47.0
The problem seems to come up on warm starts
Both batteries have been load tested with in the last month
and found good
I'll try the head light trick and see
One thing with the delay on . The info center comes right on
no delay so does the environment control (AC/heat/fan)
I will report what I find
Thanks
Sean
Got a look at the voltage after start and when the system started to charge
13.8-14.0
Should the truck start easier after an oil change? Switched from Motorcraft to Rotella T6 5/40
I did not drive much today and did not see the problem
Truck went to bed with a charger on it all night.
Today no odd issues. Both batteries tested good a few weeks ago what gives????
The guy doing the testing has sold me a few over the years and he
did disconnect the 2 from each other when he tested.
Right not is is just an annoyance. I just don't want it turning
into a stuck at the side of the road
