Quick over view. I have been fighting the transmission for a while in between deployments. Replaced mlps and every sensor in the truck and replaced the fluid and added lucas. It still shifts hard loses reverse and shifts too early. I think I am going to get it rebuilt.
How much does a E4OD normally cost to rebuild?
Any tips?
A good quality rebuild is well over $1200+. Plan on twice that if you want a transmission that will outlast the truck, IMHO. Your symptoms lead me to believe you have something external causing the shifting issue. More than once someone on these forums has gone for a rebuild to find out the symptoms persist. Is there a thread with the details of everything that has been done up to this point?
I looked at my old posts for it. It involved other issues that have been resolved. To no confuse anyone I will just list what is current.
I will go out and rund Codes in a few.
Current symptoms.
-Hard shiftting 2-3 and harder 3-od.
-Reverse has slack? And goes out when I tow or have heavy load.
It shifts to early? Sometimes it will ****ft into 3 and then directly into OD?
What I have done....
Replaced:
VSS
TPS
MLPS (correclty installed and wired)
EGR Vac Solenoid
Cap
Rotor
Plugs
Wires
Ignition Coil
Vac Leaks Fixed
MAP Sensor
Fuel Filter
654 Transmission selector not in PARK - Transmissions
172-
Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single, Right or Rear HO2S - Fuel control
Code 667: Transmission Manual Lever Position Sensor circuit shorted
Code 668: Transmission Manual Lever Position Sensor circuit open
When I see conflicting error codes like that I suspect a wiring problem. Perhaps the cable bundle from the transmission to the PCM has been compromised. I would start looking for signs of chaffing, rubbing, etc. on the cable bundle.
