FWIW A lot of people recommend against the black onyx HD's and use motor craft instead

I second that statement. I would use OEM headgaskets. There are some on here making over 500 HP at the tires on OEM headgaskets.

I used black oynx gaskets when I did my studs and I beat the snot out of my truck tuned(when it ran) and I never saw a sign of failure with them.

They are cheaper then OEM but there's obviously a reason..

So are there any others out there that would outperform either?
Also, 2006powerstroke90, what caused your truck not to run? If something failed on your truck it might be possible on mine. I want to truly bulletproof this thing. I want this motor to be the last thing i have to worry about failing on the truck...

BO gaskets are not of the same quality as OEM head gaskets. +1 more for OEM!

Okay so Black Onyx are of questionable quality... What about the other things i listed? at $70 per piston for coating plus shipping and new rings... is the piston coat going to perform well enough to justify the money? I actually want the new Mahle Pistons they just came out with that are made of the lightweight forged aluminum that is stronger than the stock cast ones but they aren't avail for us yet. YET. Thus, I don't know of any other option other than coating.

FASS Titanium - FASS system is a good idea
Blue spring - Good idea, but I would sugest a regulated return instead
Piston coat - Waist of money, the bottom end is pretty strong on these trucks.
Black Onyx HG set - Very questionable, I would stick with OEM
ARP studs - Good idea
Clevite Rod Bearings - same as the pistons
FS-2500 Oil filter - waist of money.
Swamps 58v FICM upgrade W/80+ tune - I wouldn't go with the 58V, FICM tunes are a good idea though. Send it off to ED at ficmrepair.com and have them upgrade the unit, and install the tune.

Current:
155cc RCD injectors
SCT - who's doing the custom tunes?
Magnaflow 4' turbo-back
Poweradder Intake(i know this isn't ideal) - I guess you already know that this isn't a recomended mod

No custom tunes yet.. i have the older model SCT that came out in 2004.. I am planning on getting a better tuner with tunes from Innovative if i am able... I want a pretty hot street tune.. all in all i want 550 ish to the wheels when i am done with everything but not at the sacrafice of getting no fuel economy i.e. <14mpg i am getting 496 to the crank with the tune and upgrades i have now at 22 mpg hwy. that is based on manufacturers hp claims by the way.. probly not getting that much power but i'd like to think so lol. also what reg should i use instead of BS upgrade? Furthermore i think i am getting either a roush or AFE intake.. just haven't decided. The AFE has bigger claims but the Roush looks sleek under the hood and doesn't have horrible claims.

With bigger injectors you defently need custom tunes. Also, I wouldn't be holding my breath on 550 HP at the wheels with 155's. Tex is running 155's with a big non-VGT turbo, and custom tunes and dyno'd 508 at the wheels. Manufacture claims are BS, you won't (most of the time) get anywhere near what the claim for add-on's.

As far as the intake goes, I would really recomend going back to stock and not waisting money on them. The factory one is a very good intake, and will flow pleanty of air for some 155's and filter way better than those AM ones will.

Also talked with Ed at Ficmrepair about sending my unit in to get it upgraded, no joke about what everyone has said, he is very professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend him as well.
