Dumb brake questions
I mounted the proportioning valve on the frame rail on my 65. My question is what electrical wiring is needed on the proportioning valve. There is the two prong connection on top and looks like a single prong connection at one end. Do i need to do anything with these? My brake light switch is on the steering column.
Question two: I am installing all new lines but can't remember if the caliper line connects at the top of the bracket or the bottom. Does it make a difference?
Question 3: Why is the brake line leaving the master cylinder spiraled? Is this necessary?
Sorry if my questions are elementary. I may not have a lot of knowledge but I am enjoying this project!
you can put the brake light switch there if you want.
question 2: i dont think drum brakes have calipers...but i know what you mean, the rubber hose mounts to the bottom of the bracket, the hard line sticks down
Question 3: the coil in the brake line should be there... it is so the lines can flex between the cab and frame.
Have Fun!

None.

No wiring of any kind is required.
My brake light switch is on the steering column.

Since no 1966 or earlier FoMoCo vehicle has this lamp, just leave the switch in place.
Single pot master: The brake light switch either threads directly into the master or to a brass block that does the same thing.
1967 and later with dual pot master cylinders: The brake light switch mounts to the brake pedal. The type of mount used in 1967 is 1967 only, 1968/79 is basically the same.
1965/77 F100/350: The only switch mounted on the bottom of the steering column is the neutral safety switch, used with A/T.
