Well I put in 14 and its right at the top of the hash marks. I've learned that the ONLY way to get an accurate reading is to let the truck sit overnight and check it ONE time in the morning. If I try to stick the dipstick back in, pull it out wipe it and get another reading, its completely different.

It can be from Rear Main Seal or from the Bed Plate running back to bell housing

Also anything leaking from Top of Engine Valley will end up at the Bell Housing

How Much Oil Is in it????

If the Rear Main was bad when the moter was out would have been the time to change it

How Bad it the Leak lots of places it can leak too on the 6.0L

Internal Leak

When the Injector Orings Leak (I mean the orings that seal injector to Fuel Rail and theres 2 per injector) when the orings leak Diesel Fuel will push up into the top the Valves area untill the Engine gets Warm then orings expaned and seal. So every day alittle more Diesel fuel mixes with oil and thines oil out and raises the Leval. Then again too much in the Oil Pan and all the Rear main and bed plate leaks. But the WORSE Part of it is the oil is thinned out and Wear Protection is reduced GREATLY

I did put in a new rear seal, there was no way I was not going too after all that work.I had the problem before where my oil level was rising and figured it was the injectors.they have been rebuilt since.

As far as the leak its just the drip on the bellhousing that hangs there and never leaves a drop on the ground.I can live with it. Thanks

Hate to tell you Benny but the drip is back

Same as before, hangs there and never hits the ground. Maybe using 13.5 qts next time will get rid of it.

On my first oil change I put in the first 14 Qts and
then run the engine to check for leaks. I let it settle
for about 30 Min and then added a little at a time
to half way on the dipstick So I totaled out about
14.75 Qts. The only signs I see of any leak was where
some oil had run down the side of the block when the
drivers side valve cover was off.
