Explaining to the wife

Well after 8 new injectors, new transmission and ditching the edge tuner, oh and new U joint and carrier bearing, my wife took the truck for the first time since all the repairs. She has been scared to drive it since all the trouble we have had. So long story short she is going on a 600 mile round trip for business and wouldnt you know it i just made the swap over to synthetic oil YESTERDAY. So wouldnt you know it i had to explain the deltas to her. wow that was fun. next i had to explain the high idle mod to her. as you can imagine this was a very FUN conversation to have. that ended with well if i have to watch all this cr** on your truck why do we even drive it? after enligghtning her i showed her the forum where i learned my vast knowledge and she was like wow, i need to find you something better to do. love the support huh? just wondering how many of the rest of you have had the same talk with your wives? not an easy one to give who always says her truck is running funny and making a strange sound. i can only wait to hear about all the new noises when she gets back.

Your not alone thats for sure. Mine as long as I am taking care of her vehicle she doesn't complain to much. Usually though when explaining the problem to her it is in one ear and out the other.

That's what wives are for. LOL

Mine is pretty good, but she does wonder why it all matters. I tell her it's all about seeing a problem before it gets expensive. So if I can do that, and prevent a breakdown, why wouldn't I?

That's tough(er) to argue with...

My wife gets upset when I show her the receipts! But I have to remind her my PS replaced my motorcycle, so it is also my "hobby"!

Yeah my wife gets irritated hearing me talk about a blue spring upgrade and CAC boots and all that. She tells me I can spend 100 a month on my truck or save for a few months for bigger stuff. Not sure yet how I'm going to swing new tires into the mix! I'm pretty sure by now she can recite all my mods and why they were "needed".

Why did you bother explaining synthetic oil, temp deltas, and a high-idle mod to her for a 600 mile trip? Sounds like you overcomplicated things and brought this on yourself. Just hand her the keys and tell her to have a good trip, just don't mess with this extra high-idle switch.

damn, thought my wife was annoying when I tried to explain to her that she needed to drive my truck 2-3 times a week while I am deployed.

she couldn't compute that the truck sitting for 6 months was a bad thing. All my previous gassers have sat for months at a time unless she needed them for something oddball

Yeah I know that feeling Tylus. I tried getting my wife to drive my other truck while I was deployed be she didn't like it. It was too big or too loud or too fast. I eventually have up and had a buddy come pick it up and he drove it a few times a week to keep it fresh. Then when I got back I bought my PSD and couldn't be happier. Good luck with the wife though.

She was trying to figure out what I was doing last night and she saw the receipt for the oil change on the console. Figured I might as well elaine it to her because on the weekends puts most of the miles on it with her photography business as long as I am not hauling cattle or equipment. Figured it was as good of time as any.

sometimes i get nagging, and sometimes i get the blank stare when i'm trying to explain some stuff to her, like for example, being a former aerospace engineer, i tried explaining the concept of our variable vane turbo and how it was actually still being used in aircraft technology. they used tat concept to make aircraft more efficient. of cos, tat still didnt work, but it works for cars like ours. lol.

nope, blank look, and a snide remark like "tats wat i have u here for. now go get em, tiger". dang. my life jus went down the crapper.

Why even HAVE a wife to begin with? All you are to them, is a bottomless bank account and a handy man to fix things FOR FREE. Any vehicle is just a means of transportation to them that you put the key in and drive. Oh yeah, that you have to put fuel in too. Oil changes? WTF is that? MONEY to pay for truck/car repairs???? Well God forbid!!!!!
